Medway Minibus

After consulting with residents, the Medway Parade Residents and Traders Association (MPRTA) have allocated up to £10,000 to fund a trial minibus, for a trial period to ferry those residents on the Medway Estate who do not have a car to the nearest supermarkets, tube and bus stops in Perivale and down to West Ealing. This service operates 3 times a week.

The Medway Minibus has proved popular with residents on the Medway Estate, particularly the elderly who do not have a car and for whom it is a lifeline.

Unfortunately, the funds allocated by the MPRTA will run out in January 2001. At the last Perivale Area Committee on 27 September, Councillor Evans asked Council officers to urgently identify funds to ensure that the Medway Minibus could continue beyond next January. The Perivale Area Committee will be receiving a report on the future funding for the Medway Minibus at its next meeting on 6 December and it is hoped that funding will have been identified to enable to Medway Minibus to continue.
